Location: Barcelona (Hybrid) · Type: Internship
Started in 2016, Frekuent is now the all-in-one payment and loyalty platform for unattended environments — 500+ clients, 100M+ transactions a year, 2.5M+ users across Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, and Singapore. We turn one-time buyers into lifetime clients with cashless, contactless, effortless payments: less friction, more reasons to come back.
2026 has been our biggest year yet — we've hyperscaled from 40 to 100+ people, with more hires on the way, and closed a €6M funding round to fuel what's next.
And we're just getting started — our goal is to become the default payment and loyalty layer behind every unattended transaction, everywhere.

With 500+ clients across five countries and more signing every month, every new merchant has to get from "contract signed" to "live and taking payments" quickly — and fully compliant. That journey runs through two teams, Sales Ops and KYC, and we want an extra pair of hands sitting right between them to keep every onboarding moving.
In return, you'll learn how a regulated payments company brings merchants on board, end to end. You'll have a buddy on the team, real onboardings to work on from your first weeks (no coffee runs), regular feedback, and a front-row seat to how a fast-growing scale-up actually operates.
Support new merchants through onboarding, from signed contract to their first day live on Frekuent.
Help the KYC team collect and check merchant documentation, keeping contracts and CRM records up to date until each merchant is approved.
Set merchants up on our platform — devices, dashboards and access to our BI tool — and help manage device transfers between merchants.
Coordinate training and setup sessions with Support, and keep Sales, KYC, Support and our payment partners in the loop on each onboarding's status.
Shadow onboarding and KYC reviews to learn how compliance checks work in payments, and join the team's weekly rituals.
Spot where merchants get stuck and, with your buddy, propose and test small improvements to the onboarding process.
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field, able to sign an internship agreement and commit to a 40-hour week.
Fluent Spanish, plus good conversational English, German, Italian, Portuguese or French.
Comfortable with Excel/Google Sheets — filters, lookups and keeping a tracker clean.
A sharp eye for detail: missing documents and mismatched data don't slip past you.
Clear, friendly communication, written and spoken, with merchants and teammates alike.
Curiosity and ownership: you ask questions, take feedback well and follow your tasks through to the end.
Have done a previous internship or part-time job in operations, customer service or a regulated sector (banking, insurance, fintech).
Have heard of KYC/AML or compliance from your studies and want to learn more.
Have used a CRM (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho) or a BI tool, even in a university project.
Have been part of a student association, volunteering project or anything else where you organised people and deadlines.
Are curious about payments, fintech or retail tech.
Fast, autonomous, low-bureaucracy.
We measure output, not hours in a chair.
Resilience means iterating until it works — not giving up early.
