What you'll do

At Frekuent, we’re not just building payment solutions — we’re creating seamless experiences that move businesses and customers forward.As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in building the foundations of our data infrastructure and pipelines. You’ll work closely with our fast-growing Data team to design and implement scalable solutions that power our products, operations and clients. You’ll have a real impact from day one.


What you'll be doing:

  • Help define and implement our data warehouse and data modeling layer.

  • Build, test, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines (ETL and ELT) from internal and external data sources.

  • Set up monitoring, documentation, and quality checks to ensure data reliability and observability.

  • Collaborate with Analytics, Product, Engineering, and Business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into well-structured data models.

  • Assist in building automated workflows that enable AI use cases, leveraging clean datasets, APIs, and lightweight services.

  • Contribute to a strong data culture, helping to establish best practices for data engineering and data modelling.

  • Mentor junior team members as the Data team grows

  • Occasionally support the creation or optimization of dashboards to validate data models or unlock critical business insights.


Who we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering or closely related roles.

  • Proficiency in SQL and Python and experience building and maintaining data models using tools like dbt.

  • Experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Microsoft Fabric, BigQuery, Snowflake).

  • Familiarity with ELT tools such as Airflow, Fivetran, or Stitch.

  • Exposure to data visualization with tools like Power BI, Looker, or Tableau.

  • Exposure to AI driven automations or ML/LLM-based models

  • Familiarity with software engineering practices such as version control, automated testing, and CI/CD workflows.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment — proactive, hands-on, and ready to take ownership.

  • Proficiency in English and conversational Spanish.

  • Experience working with containerization tools like Docker is a plus.

  • Strong execution and problem-solving skills — you’re not afraid to tackle challenges head-on.

  • Takes accountability and consistently owns the outcome throughout the process.

  • Embraces feedback as an opportunity for growth.

  • Naturally proactive, always looking for ways to move projects forward.

  • Comfortable speaking up and proposing bold, creative ideas that add value.
